Turnitin have reported some difficulties with their login processes between 11.37pm Weds 23rd Oct and 6am Thurs 24th Oct which would have prevented users from logging in and / or accessing the Turnitin service through Blackboard. This has now been resolved and Turnitin is available as normal.

As an Instructor, if under “My Courses” on your Blackboard home page you see “not currently available” or “unavailable” after the course name, this means the course is unavailable to students. Instructors can still access and edit the course.
Once your course is ready for students to use, ensure that it is made available as follows:
Use the Quick Tools tool on your Blackboard Home page (this does not currently work for Hub courses). Click Course Availability and turn the On/Off button next to the course to the required state.
- Click on the course
- Under Control Panel, click on Customisation
- Click on Properties
- In section 3, Set availability, select Yes
- Click Submit
Your course is now available to students.
This summer, in response to user feedback, we are improving the resilience, reliability and scalability of Blackboard, as well as introducing new tools and features. This means that there will be changes to the availability of blackboard between Friday 21 July and Tuesday 25 July, full details of the move can be found here.

We are currently investigating reports of slow response times when accessing Blackboard pages. It would appear that some users are being affected by unavailability or severe time lags when using Blackboard. Our IT systems team are looking into the problem and hope to have it resolved as soon as possible, we will blog any updates as they arise.

Unfortunately IT services need to do some additional maintenance on the University database servers on 9 August that will affect access to Blackboard. The extra downtime will take place out of hours as far as possible, from 2am to 10am, to limit inconvenience to users.

Our service provider will be performing scheduled maintenance on their Mediasite cloud environment on Saturday 23rd April – this is not expected to cause any disruption to service.
The message from Mediasite :
We will be performing planned infrastructure maintenance on Saturday, April
23, 2016 for the Mediasite Cloud environment. This maintenance is expected
to be non-impactful and access to your Mediasite server should not be
affected. The maintenance will be performed between 12:01am and 4:00am CDT.

It has come to our attention that students are experiencing difficulties when uploading submissions to Blackboard when using the Edge browser in Windows 10. Blackboard are aware of the problem and are working on a fix but our current advice is to use another browser (Chrome, IE, or Firefox).
The University is currently experiencing some service disruption which is affecting our access to Turnitin. IT services are investigating – please check their service status page.
(update 13.26 pm) Turnitin have Confirmed with Jisc that the Janet network has been experiencing a DDoS which may affect some Turnitinuk users.
